People don’t scream that they’ve been stabbed unless they’ve been stabbed. People don’t yell that they’re drowning unless they’re drowning. But no, we can’t accept that. It’s like we must punish others with our morality. “That person’s not really bleeding — they’re faking it.” What is this obsession with punishing others to make ourselves feel like we are right and good?

In solidarity with you, Dominique. I agree with you completely, and it’s a lesson that I’ve had to learn over time.
