I think that algorithm questions give the impression of impartiality. They’re technical and you can evaluate the performance of an implementation objectively. But just because they’re objective doesn’t mean that they’re impartial. Once you bring the human factors into the conversation, you begin to see the flaws in the algorithmic approach.

Of course, asking developers to think about the socioeconomic implications of their interview questions is likely to earn you a scoff and a patronizing smile in many companies.
